What is online PC Support?
Online computer and tech support, or ”remote support”, allows us to remotely view your computer screen and securely fix most computer, network, personal electronics and mobile device problems right through the Internet via remote control. It’s like watching your computer fix itself.
This type of support works through desktop sharing technology. What this means is that when you click on a help shortcut that we provide you, you can allow a certified kompufix technology expert to view and interact with your computer remotely via the Internet – fixing problems and setting up new technology fast.
Is Remote Support Secure?
Yes. We utilize a 256 bit encrypted connection between your computer and the technician’s computer to ensure the entire data stream is protected. In this way, you have set up a unique one-to-one session that no one else can view or access during the session. You are in control the whole time. Only you can initiate an online support session and you can end a session by simply closing out of the support session. In addition, you are always in control of your mouse (cursor). During your session you will see the technician using your cursor to locate and fix problems, configure new software, or set up new devices. At any time you can override mouse control by simply moving your mouse.
Additionally, at the end of each session, you can view and save a transcript of the entire session.
Are your technicians qualified to work on my computer
Our computer technicians are Microsoft Product Specialists, A+ Certified Professionals, Network Support Specialists, Network Administrators, Windows System Administrators, Computer End-User Support Specialists, and Server Administrators.
Every technician has 3+ years experience in a help desk environment and completes extensive on-going training to ensure excellent service delivery.
Are your technicians background checked?
Yes. Currently all of our technicians have undergone extensive background checks and hold or have the ability to hold U.S. government security clearances.
Do you have to come to my home or business to set up anything?
Yes and No. When you sign up, you will receive an email with a download link and simple instructions to follow for our remote support. For our 1 year guarantee service we have to come to your home or business to setup our one time configuration (includes virus removal, PC tune up, antivirus protection).
Can You Get Back Into My Computer After a Support Session Is Over?
No, not until you click your shortcut and request service. When you click the shortcut on your desktop you are prompted to allow or deny us the ability to view and interact with your computer. Once your service is complete, we can no longer see or access your computer.
What if you can’t repair my PC remotely?
There are times when remote sessions will not be adequate enough to repair your system. The 1 year guarantee covers onsite repairs and pick up and drop off services. If you are not in our pick up/drop off area, we have associate qualified partners that will perform any services under our advice and price.
Can you make my network run faster?
We often receive calls asking us to clean up a network that is malfunctioning and creating a variety of headaches. A well-designed network operates smoothly and efficiently, requiring a minimum of maintenance. Over the long-term, it saves you money.
Before starting network monitoring and maintenance, we first prepare the network by improving its performance and security, whether you have one local area network (LAN) or a larger multi-site network for distributed offices.
A properly planned network is a cost-efficient way to stay error-free when you grow and add new applications. Your network design should also provide for disaster prevention and security.
Can Kompufix make my business more secure?
Your business can be brought to a halt by viruses, spyware, and other “malware.” It is not a question of “if” but merely of “when.”
Security measures are essential in today’s high-risk environment to protect your systems from:
■ External threats — You can find a wide variety of firewalls,
anti-virus software, and more. But which ones are right for you?
We will advise you about the most appropriate security measures for your particular environment.
■ Internal threats — You should also plan to protect your data from theft or sabotage by disgruntled employees or ex-employees, as well as curious eyes looking at sensitive information. Even simple measures like changing passwords can make a big difference. We can set up an effective internal security plan for your company.
How can I protect my computers from viruses and other infections?
All too often, a new customer’s first call to us is, “Help! My system is running too slow and has popups I don’t want!”
To protect your computers from viruses, spyware and other “malware”…
1. Do not let your children play computer games and download data on your office systems.
2. Learn to recognize and ignore hoaxes — Never follow unsolicited instructions to delete a system file.
3. Avoid untrustworthy sources— Before you download a potentially infected file or program like a game or an application, or even a document, consider if this is from a trustworthy source. Do not browse web sites that are not known to be trustworthy. Do not insert a disk or CD-ROM in your computer’s drive unless you fully trust the source.
4. Ignore unexpected messages or attachments — Do not open an unexpected Email message or attachment, as it may be infected.
5. Install reliable antivirus and anti-spyware software. Both antivirus and anti-spyware software are included with your Peace of Mind program.
6. Update your antivirus software regularly. Your Peace of Mind program verifies that your antivirus software has been updated, and that your computers are not infected. With Peace of Mind, on the unlikely chance your computers get an infection, we will remove it at no charge to you.
Is there anything I can do to reduce spam?
Spam is unwanted and unsolicited email. It is not only annoying, but is a significant drain on your time and your network resources. You have probably seen an increase in the amount of “junk mail” which shows up in your email box. The activities of a small number of people are becoming a bigger problem for the Internet. We can make your experience on the Internet better.
Caution: A lot of spam comes with instructions on how to “remove yourself from our list”. Yet, more often than not, the remove instructions don’t work. In fact clicking on the link to unsubscribe will simply verify that you have a valid e-mail address, so that you can then get lots of spam instead of a little. Don’t waste your time trying to jump through the spammers’ hoops.
You can reduce (though generally not eliminate) spam by:
■ Installing Exchange Defender spam blocker software on your email server.
■ Installing spam blocker software on your system.
